Delivering as a CCG

Patient safety

NNE Aim – To commission safe services for our local community. Patient safety will be our highest priority.

Patient Safety is embedded in safeguarding and understanding the patient experience. The Governing Body has carried out an assessment and has identified that patient safety has a high priority and there are numerous systems (including those integrating the patient perspective) in place to protect it.
NNE recognize the importance of translating lessons from incidents into long-term solutions for change.

Patient Safety includes infection prevention and control. All healthcare organisations are expected to minimise the risk of healthcare acquired infection to patients by complying with the ‘Health and Social Care Act (2008): Code of Practice for the NHS on the prevention and control of healthcare associated infections and related guidance’. As Commissioners we must ensure that our providers are minimising the risk and as such, have a Director of Infection Prevention and Control.
